Course Information

At AIT we provide the Occupational First Aid Course to both companies and the public. Our Occupational First Aid courses are fun and easy to follow instilling confidence in the first aider. All students have access to all first aid materials for hands on experience, should an emergency arrive. Each student receives a first aid quick reference guide, PHECC Cardiac responder guide and free pocket face mask. Our courses can be booked on alternative days to best suit the student.

Who is it for?

This course is for any candidates who wishes to be trained in the skills of Occupational First Aid and AED Defibrillator Training. Candidates that require a work place qualification in First Aid.  Employees and employers are required by law to train members of staff at a ratio of 1: 10 in first aid..

• Persons interested in gaining a FETAC level 5 qualification

Occupational First Aid Course content includes:

• First aid in the work place
• Patient assessment
• Respiratory Emergencies
• Cardiac First Responder  AED Training
• Wounds and Bleeding
• Altered Levels of Consciousness
• Musculo sketal Injuries
• Burns and scalds
• Chemical Injuries
• Electrical Shock

Assessment

Continuous Assessment during the course.
Written exam at the end of the course.

Qualification

Irish Heart Foundation Certification valid for 2 years.
FETAC level 5 (optional) Occupational First Aid Certificate valid for 2 years.
Each student receives a free pocket face mask and a PHECC Book.

Recertification

Recertification of the occupational first aider is held over a one day refresher course.

COURSE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Courses run with a minimum of 8 students and a maximum of 10.
