Defibrillator Training - Healthcare Provider BLS

Course Information

The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course is intended for participants who provide healthcare to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in hospital and out of hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, doctor’s assistants, dentists, medical and nursing students, nursing assistants and other allied health personnel.
The Healthcare Provider course is designed for anyone who is required ot take a course for employment in the healthcare field. The course is a prerequisite for advanced courses in resuscitation, including advanced cardiovascular life support, paediatric advanced life support and advanced neonatal life support and BLS instructor Courses. 
The course teaches the skills of CPR and choking for victims of all ages including ventilation with a barrier device, pocket face mask, bag valve mask with oxygen supplementation and the use of an AED Defibrillator.

A background in Healthcare.

Course content includes:

• Assess an incident / emergency
• Prepares healthcare providers and professionals to perform high quality CPR
• Teaches the healthcare provider how to use the AED Defibrillator as part of a team and individually
• The course includes adult, child and infant rescue techniques
• Airway management
• Use of barrier devices and the Bag valve mask
• How to help a choking victim

Assessment

Continuous Assessment during the course.
Written exam at the end of the course.

Qualification

Healthcare Provider Irish Heart Foundation Certification valid for 2 years.
Each student receives a free pocket face mask and a AHA Book.
